Wk16B - Building Out Your Marketing Strategy on a Calendar

As I discussed in my last blog (16A), social media is more than just a digital marketing tool; for online personal wellness businesses it is the heartbeat for connection. To gain new clients, and build trust with existing ones, showing up consistently and authentically is essential. Developing a detailed schedule and strategy can help to empower my brand, build my online community, and turn casual followers into committed clients.

Below is an example of how I might want to structure my social media efforts with an approach to daily, weekly, and monthly planning and built around platforms that resonate most with my mission: Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. At the end of this blog I have also included a simple calendar schedule that I could use for planning and reminder purposes.  However, while I think it is important to post something new every day, it is also just as important to remain flexible and adaptable to what is working and what isn’t working.  So, while the calendar is a gameplan for the upcoming month, it is also important to review progress continually to see if and where adjustments might need to be made.  Adjustments could be anything from content type, to posting times, to the variety in the social media platforms themselves. At a minimum, I think that I should be committed to spending at least 10-12 hours per week on content creation, scheduling, and community engagement (and probably many more hours per week to begin with).

Daily Schedule: Fueling Connection Every Day

Daily Content Creation & Posting:

  • Instagram & Facebook Feed (Morning): A motivational quote, a quick workout tip, a transformation story, or a healthy meal idea.
  • Instagram/Facebook Stories (Afternoon/Evening): Polls, “day in the life” clips, yoga breathwork videos, or Q&As to keep things personal and interactive.

Engagement Tasks (15–30 minutes):

  • Respond to every comment and message. Social media is a conversation.
  • Comment on or share audience and community content.
  • Encourage dialogue to build genuine relationships.

Quick Analytics Review:

  • At the end of the day, review post performance (likes, saves, shares, reach).
  • Note patterns that can inform what works best tomorrow.

 

Weekly Schedule: Staying Organized & Growing Strategically

Weekly Content Planning (2–3 hours):

  • Map out my editorial calendar based on my audience’s needs.
  • Prepare:
    • 3 Instagram/Facebook feed posts (e.g., strength training clip, recipe, client spotlight)
    • 2 Story sets (such as tips, challenges, or motivation)
    • 1 YouTube video (10-minute guided yoga, breathwork, or fitness walkthrough)
    • 1 Facebook Live/Event Promo (Free Trial Week promo, group Q&A, or short seminar)

Scheduling with Tools (1 hour):

  • Use Hootsuite to queue content across platforms.
  • Write engaging captions with relevant hashtags and clear calls to action.

Engagement & Recap (1 hour):

  • Check what drove the most clicks, shares, and responses.
  • Measure which posts converted into site visits or bookings.
  • Reflect on how to optimize or repurpose what worked.

 

Monthly Schedule: Reflecting, Scaling, and Evolving

Theme Planning (2 hours):

  • Establish a monthly focus such as, “Spring Into Wellness,” “5K Challenge Month,” or “Healthy Back to School.”
  • Align content, blog posts, YouTube videos, and promotions with this theme.

Analytics Deep Dive (1 hour):

  • Review:
    • Follower growth and engagement trends
    • Top traffic sources and conversion rates using Google Analytics
    • Service signups or appointment requests from social channels

Content Audit (30 minutes):

  • Recycle or refresh high-performing content.
  • Identify what visuals, captions, or formats performed best (Reels, Lives, Stories, etc.).

Community Growth Planning (1 hour):

  • Research potential influencers, collaborators, or guest contributors.
  • Adjust goals and experiment with a new feature or platform like TikTok shorts or podcast clips.
