Week 8 Part A: Your Instagram Hashtag Use
According to SocialPilot, which researched over 50,000 posts, the best times to post are as follows:
Clearly morning and mid-day are consistent trend for most
days, with some variations later in the day, particularly on Sunday evening. I think that the reason for this is that it
is natural for people to check their phones in the morning for any messages or missed
phone calls, as well as to see what the latest posts might be on their favorite
social media apps. As they need a break
from their day they might drift back to their phones before lunch, and then
again before leaving the office, working, or picking up the kids from
school. The take-away for me is to try
to look for those times where people are going to be casualy looking at their
phones, which SocialPilot has done a great job in highlighting.
On that note, I failed miserably at getting my Instagram
posts aligned this week with any type of strategic timing, as I waited until the
evening on the due date to get this assignment started. Lesson definitely learned this week, and
looking forward to the future, I would want to schedule and align my post
releases on both Instagram and Facebook to something similar to what SocialPiolot
has outlined above.
For my three Instagram posts that I did get done, I tried to push
out some general information on 1) yoga , 2) calisthenics and 3) exercise_and_Alzheimers . The purpose of my posts was to share some exercise
information and try to relay that it is never too late to get started in an exercise
program. My posts were geared towards
people that might be interested in starting to exercise again, but need just a
bit more motivation and encouragement to get started. I also read an interesting news feed about Alzheimers
and the benefits that exercise can have in its prevention, so I wanted to share
that information as well. For my hashtags I tried to use hashtags that were relevant to the
post and also had a large following, particularly as I am just starting out. I
also did start including my business hashtag in all of my posts so that I can
start building out my own hashtag page.
Fellow classmate Instagram posts I visited and commented on
this week included: brokewitch_official,
alifeworthlivingrectherapy,
austinsnoodle, sammys_slime_shop_, and cafecatreads . Most all of them did a fantastic job with
their hashtags, posting not too many, but just enough (3-8 on average) and kept
the hashtags whimsical and relevant to their posts.
